XOLOITZCUINTLES FINISH TRAINING CAMP IN MAZATLAN
Club Tijuana returns home to being playing exhibition matches
TIJUANA (June 22, 2018) –Players, coaches and staff are heading home after 11 days of intense training on the beaches of Mazatlan. Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles went through double sessions and at times a third session a day as it prepares for the upcoming LIGA MX 2018 Apertura season.
The team finished the preseason camp with an intersquad scrimmage led by coach Diego Cocca. The Argentine manager spoke about the team’s bonding and preparation work during training camp.
“There was a great balance being here,” Cocca said. “It wasn’t only about the physical fitness but also about bring the group together and incorporate the new players. We are happy to finish well in this phase.”
Club Tijuana will now begin the next phase of the preseason which includes five exhibition matches.
The Xoloitzcuintles are set to travel to Irvine, Calif. to face Cruz Azul June 30 at Great Park. It will then host Pumas UNAM July 3 at Estadio Caliente. The next two matches are against Herediano of Costa Rica (July 7) at Estadio Caliente and against Monarcas Morelia in Sacramento (July 11) at Raley Field. The final preseason match is July 14 at Estadio Caliente against Dorados de Sinaloa.
“We were able to have a good quality of games last season the same way we will this time,” Cocca said. “We need to take advantage of them. We will have three games at home to get used to the new field surface. There’s a lot of expectations and will to get this tournament started.”
The Xoloitzcuintles traveled to Tijuana where it will resume training Monday evening at Estadio Caliente.
